The 12,000 acres resort boasts multifarious options: a 27 hole golf course with David Leadbetter Academy and Europe’s second-largest driving range, a spa with saunas, a running and walking arena, a daily active programme with childcare from 9 am to 9 pm, use of tennis courts (1 hour per room free), a riding and driving centre with a 20 m x 60 m outdoor riding square, 24 boxes with paddocks for the horses of our guests, a roofed longing ring, sound and floodlight system, a heated riding hall, a sports café and several paddocks which are a home for Lipizzaner und Kladruber horses. Apart from riding, guests can learn carriage driving or baroque dressage.
Lipizzaner horses: Those “imperial white horses” of the Habsburg monarchy are one of Europe’s oldest horse breeds and have their origin in Lipica, Slovenia. They were the result of interbreeding Spanish, Neapolitan and Arabian horses on the initiative of Archduke Charles II in 1580. The Lipizzaner horses for the Spanish Riding School in Vienna have been bred since 1920 in a stud in Piber, Styria. Due to different demands, the studs in Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia developed different types of Lipizzaner horses.
Kladruber: Since carriage driving lost its importance after the war, the Kladruber horses were the only breed that was not meant to become riding horses. For 400 years, Kladruber horses were the coach horses of the Habsburg monarchy. The horse breed was founded in 1572 in the imperial stud of Kladrub and has maintained its uniformity until today. Kladruber horses are strong, sweet-tempered and yet high-spirited.
